Sunshine a fun, bold and bouncy hand-drawn font that will bring the fun back into your design work. I created this in illustrator with my graphics tablet, I'm starting to like it—Oh yeah.
I wanted Sunshine to have character, a sense of humor, and be just a bit off-the-wall. With that said I still wanted it to be fully readable, I've just about pulled it off.
Sunshine has 3 styles light, medium, and bold. It includes upper and lowercase characters, numbers, symbols, punctuation and includes all western European glyphs. OTF and TTF format both included.
Creating the three weights was a right kick in the balls, but I got there in the end. Given more time, I would have liked to create an italic version, that's something I've never done before. I need to learn how to do that. If you want to use italic, you will need to force it in your app.
The font name
Naming a font can be a pain. Not like getting punched in the face pain, but you think you've found the perfect name, then a quick search on google and it's already being used. Arse.
I normally name everything after songs, so that's kind of what I did. And for some reason this reminded me of the Beatles song good day sunshine. So, yeah, that song inspired the name—sunshine.
I like it, I like it a lot.
Sunshine a bold display font
Ideal for fun adventurous designs to give that hand-drawn lettering look. I thought it might look good on a pack of crisps.
For a laugh, I mocked up my own salt and vinegar crisp pack, nice.
