About Mind the gap

Ah, the Mind the Gap font, it's a creation born from the love-hate relationship many of us Londoners have with our daily Tube commute.

Let's be honest, the Tube in the summer is a bit of an ordeal, isn't it? It's like a moving sauna, especially when the train doors open, and you're hit with that blast of hot air. But you know what they say, it's all part of the London charm – though I must admit, I don't miss it one bit.

Now, if you've ever ridden the Tube, you'll be familiar with that posh-sounding voice reminding you to Mind the gap. And if you look down at your feet, there it is again, Mind the gap. That's exactly why I've named this stencil font after it.

I crafted this font the old-fashioned way, cutting out letter stencils and giving them a bold coat of black spray paint. The result? An industrial, almost military vibe that's as genuine as it gets when it comes to stencil-cut fonts.

Stylistic Alternatives

It includes one stylistic alternative for uppercase and lowercase A-Z. Plus an additional stylistic alternative for A, B, D, O, P, Q, R and a, b, d, e, g, o, p, q, and three alternatives for numbers.

That means you can change out repeated glyphs with alternatives. You can watch a quick demo on how to do this in Photoshop CC—https://youtu.be/YeUek2nZJu4

Includes:

  • One weight
  • Uppercase and lowercase
  • Numbers, Punctuation & Symbols
  • Stylistic sets

If Mind the Gap font were a celebrity

If the Mind the Gap font were a celebrity, it would be the no-nonsense, down-to-earth type, just like our beloved British actor, Michael Caine. This font embodies that distinct London charm and straightforwardness of the good man himself.
