Mind the Gap hand-cut stencil font

Mind the gap stencil font each and every letter cut out by hand

Mind the Gap font just released—but first, let me make a short story longer. If you have ever visited London the chances are you have travelled on the Tube. As a tourist, it's one of the easiest ways to get around—it's like a big adventure and buzzing with energy. Commuting, on the other hand, is generally not an enjoyable experience. In fact, it's the exact opposite of enjoyable. Lost hours in limbo travelling to and from the office, packed in like sardines—soul destroying. Lucky for me I decided life was too short to be spent in a hellishly hot tube....

Munky bold slab serif typeface

Munky font a fun bold slab serif typeface

Introducing Munky font, a big plate full of a slab serif. Now to be totally honest I'm not sure about the name. It's been bugging me. I was planning on calling it Heffalump because it's such a big lummox of a font. I thought that was a perfect name and I'd nailed it. But I changed it to Munky as it was shorter and catchier (is that even a word?). But it's still bugging me. Being creative is a lot more than just creating. Naming the font should be the easy part. Anyway back to the doing. Munky was created...

Little Wonder hand-painted brush script typeface

Little wonder font a handpainted brush script typeface

Little Wonder is distinct hand painted typeface. Made with a single watercolour brush and painstakingly digitised into a font. When inspiration hits you, you've got to run with it. With Little Wonder I had this idea of a fat v thin brush stroke. Creating the different letters took me about 3 hrs. I worked really quickly just creating lots and lots of letters. I ended up with over 60 sheets of paper full of different watercolour marks. I was really excited to see what it would look like, so got to work converting it. I wish I could just snap...

Mister Rooster hand-drawn script font

Mister Rooster font a script font made in illustrator

Introducing Mister Rooster font, I've changed the name to Miss Rooster (don't ask). It's been a while since I last did a script font, and I swore I wouldn't do another one for a while—I kept my word. I've been concentrating on photography packs and have another one in the works but wanted to finish Mister Rooster first. Created by robots Mister Rooster was created entirely on my mac, in illustrator. I thought it would be quicker, and it was. Not scanning paper into my computer is a massive bonus, its music to my ears. Illogical just makes sense This...

Whippin Piccadilly hand-drawn font with alternative characters

Whippin Piccadilly font hand drawn with alternative

Whippin Piccadilly font, my latest typeface creation that I've literally just finished. Inspired yet again by hand-drawn lettering. Instagram made me do it I've been doing a lot more lettering lately. Mainly to fill the void on Instagram and because it's something I love to do. I've only started to use my Instagram account in the last few months. I joined years ago but never used it. Like dude, where have you been? I know, it was the last thing on my mind. I love it now. Brushes all the way My hand lettering is created with a brush pen...

Bangers and Mash handmade serif font

Bangers and Mash font handmade serif

Bangers and Mash font, my follow-up from a font I designed called Buckley. Bangers and Mash is a hand-lettered typeface, with a playful old school vibe. This seems to be my style at the moment, I'm obsessed with anything hand-made. I get totally inspired by a love of craft and using real materials—even if the craft is just doodling and messing around. I really like the imperfect characteristics of ink on paper. So with Bangers and Mash, I'm keeping it real. Created with a Tombow I created it using a Tombow N15 pen, it's a dual brush pen that has...

Mr Chumley marker-pen display font

Mr Chumley font designed with a sharpie marker pen

Mr Chumley font came to me while labeling freezer bags. Yup, freezer bags—is that weird? I bought a pack of sharpie permanent marker pens for labeling freezer bags. Yea, I do that. I know it's not very rock'n'roll, but there it is. Don't mix your Tikka with your Stroganoff Nothing worse than thinking you're getting Chicken Tikka when you're getting beef stroganoff. Not that I have anything against Stroganoff, that's a tasty meal. Sharpie to the rescue I'd pull out the Sharpie each week to write on the bags. Looking at those scribbles got me to thinking. I could use...

Buckley handmade serif display font

Buckley font handmade serif display

Buckley is my newest font creation, drawn with a fat Copic pen on paper and painstakingly digitized into a fresh new typeface—yeah! I nearly called it Bulldog—here is a Bulldog drawing—nice. Drawn with a Copic pen It's surprisingly hard to draw a straight line with my Copic pen as the nib is so heavy. Even with the lightest touch, it bleeds into the paper. It creates uneven, wobbly edges but I liked the result. It was just the look I was after for this font that I'm calling Buckley—wobbly lines give it personality. Buckley font style I've been looking at...

Moorgate hand-drawn brush script font

Moorgate a new hand drawn brush script font

Brush fonts seem to be very popular at the moment, with lots of really great fonts around. So it's about time I threw my hat in the ring and release my own hand-painted/drawn brush font. Introducing Moorgate, a hand-drawn brush script font. Created with Indian ink, a brush, and a scanner. It has a quirky look and feel with a slight touch of grunge about it. Working on the name I’m writing this story on the tube on the way to work. Trying to think of a good font name. It was staring me in the face—in the form of...

Separator experimental display font

Separator font design with free download

Hey there, quick heads up about this blog post – it’s a bit outdated. I’ve made some changes since this was published. I’ve left my job to focus entirely on creating fonts. Because of this shift, the font mentioned here is no longer available for free. Plus, I’ve moved from WordPress to Shopify, and I’m juggling a lot right now, so I won’t be able to keep this post updated. Thanks for understanding! Thought I would never finish my new font Separator. From the original idea to completion, It’s been a long time and a hard slog, but finally, it...
